We need more volunteers to teach basic english, sex education, technical and vocational subjects, basic geography, basic sciences and basic mathematics. IT IS FREE!! you only pay $300 towards your airport pick-up, hotel accommodations and travel to project site PLUS a fee of $100 per week to your host family for your feeding and accommodation. Open to applicants to Kenya and Ghana staying for one month or more. Apply today and help educate many young children in basic schools and vocational schools in Africa. Group programs always turn on your heat and offers such a great memorable fun, that is never forgotten. So exciting, so educative so memorable that whatever you learn and encounter, you do not need an extra effort to have it stuck in your memory. Group programs are tailored for professionals, students in medical school, nursing colleges, history studies, African studies, theology and high schools.
This comprises an opportunity for the participant to discover Ghana, her people and her customs whilst involved as a volunteer, working within two different communities, get to discover a new way of life and even many about yourself you may never see in the world you live in.

Program runs for a period of 2 weeks to 3 months. With the “cultural immersion program for groups” following activities are in wait for you;

  1. Every Weekend: You get to travel to various places of interest in such a great funfair in the company of your nationals in groups, offering you the security you need, the friend you can share your shocks and surprises with, the people to enjoy the beaches with.
  2. Two days in each week: You also get to assist local teachers in basic deprived schools in teaching basic English for conversation and reading. It is a great fun discussing lesson notes and teaching skills in groups before splitting to teach various classes.
  3. Five hours each week: Learning the history and local language in Ghana is part of the program.
  4. One evening every two weeks: cultural activities and social outings are also organized to familiarize the participants with local cultures and social life of the people in both the deprived rural areas and the small cities.
  5. Two days in each week: Choose one activity from here based on the town;
    (i) (Suitable for social work staff and students) help the staff of the largest orphanage in Ghana, the Adullam Orphanage (Obuasi and Dunkwah-on-Ofin),
    (ii) (Suitable for pre-med students, nursing students and others involved in health administration programs) Assist the nurses at the local clinic (Dunkwah-on-Ofin, Yeji, and Kodie),
    (iii) (Suitable for social work staff and students) Offer care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS (Offinso, Dunkwa-on-Ofin and Obuasi)
    (iv) (Suitable for everyone interested in helping) Educate the local people on the practical and basic use of computers (Elmina, Ankobra, Boaman and Yeji) Surely this is a no miss program for a group interested in discovering the heart of Africa.
Brief overview of the cultural immersion Program:
  1. Destinations offered : Obuasi, Dunkwa-on-Ofin, Yeji, Boaman, Elmina, Ankobra, Offinso and Kodie, all villages and towns in Ghana;
  2. Number of participants : Between 7 and 16 people per group;
  3. Age limit: 16 years and over;
  4. Dates: Programs take place during the winter, the summer and the autumn
  5. Length of stay: Minimum of 2 weeks and maximum of three months in all periods;
  6. Cost includes: Greeting upon arrival, orientation, accommodation with a host family in the chosen village, three meals a day for seven days a week, supervision, course materials, mosquito nets and certificate of participation and letter of attestation.
  7. All groups are accompanied by a staff from our office;
  8. This program is open to youth of all nationalities;
  9. There is no selection process: We require the CV and a motivational essay from each participants

General itinerary of the program
  1. Five hours a week language, cultural and history classes
  2. Volunteer work in community organizations such as schools, clinics, orphanages, etc. for a total of four working days a week working an average of 6 hours a day;
  3. One day a week practical cultural immersion accompanying local people to their farms, coming back with them to study and be part of dinner preparation and spending evening time after dinner with the family experiencing stories by the fire side;
  4. Participating in a communal work in a village once in every two weeks
  5. Guided tours to places of interest in the country to be picked by the group. Tour is embarked on during each weekend.
  6. Two durbar night to welcome the group to their village and to bid them goodbye.

How to apply
Interested persons should elect a group leader who will send an email to our office by using the contact form at www.elghana.com/contact.htm
A group should be at least seven or more in number and should have same core objectives.
After receiving the message from the group leader, a project officer shall be appointed to discuss all parts of the project with the leader.

Heads of schools, departments and faculties of various learning institutions are welcomed to contact us to discuss and plan a group project for a class or group.

Cost:
Cost of the program depends on the objectives to be met by the group, the professional resource persons who are required to be involved in the program and the other demands. Generally the group programs starts from the following cost.

Cost does not include:
Transportation and entrance fees to places of interest, sleep-over cost during excursions, drinks and other activities of participants not stated here. Top pick places of interest are (a) the {Cape Coast Castle, Elmina Castle, Elmina and Cape Coast Beaches, Kakum national park} (b) the Mole national park (c) A cruise on the volta lake taking you for a visit to the Adidome island where you are welcomed with lots of traditional drumming and dancing
To visit these three places only, it shall cost each participant not more than $350
