As I was leaving for this trip, I was excited anticipating the next two weeks but I’ll admit, I was scared as well. Now as I look back, I don’t know what I was scared of. In short, the trip blew any obscure expectations I had out of the water. I feel as though I grew more in 2 weeks than I did in a long time.
El Ghana is an organization of kind and hilarious people, and everything from the food to the people were just fantastic. I also had a malaria scare when I was there, and I’d like to thank El Ghana for taking me to the hospital to get tested so promptly. I hope to volunteer with you in the future again (I already started planning this with a friend of mine, we decided we might do it in Kenya next time).
My piece of advice to incoming volunteers: Keep a journal, because it is so fun to look back at what you wrote when get home and all the memories come back to you. Words of advice for Elghana, keep doing what you are doing, it’s great =)
