children and orphanage volunteer work opportunities

Our volunteer work with children and orphanage is a program we created to enable you help us toward our goal. To help us run our English literacy program, computer literacy program, personal hygiene education, social development for the children, teaching the children educational games like scrabble to provide them fun environment where they learn as they play, teach them how to properly brush their teeth and be a friend to the children, share your neighborhood and country’s stories with the children and help a child read a storybook.

Apart from an orphanage, volunteers are placed in poor communities to assist in local structures giving education to the children; help the children to read a storybook, monitor children living with foster parents we are supporting, use a tablet to introduce the children to computers, teach them personal hygiene and teach them educational games like scrabble. We provide educational material and scholarship for orphans living with foster parents in poor communities. Our volunteers who sign up for the children and orphanage volunteer work help us by monitoring the children by visiting their home, help them with their home work or play games. Part of our program is to encourage and motivate families to foster orphans of their deceased relatives since its better for them to grow with family than to be taken to an orphanage. We support poor families opting to be foster parents. Our children and orphanage volunteers in the communities help us in identifying new cases and challenges with existing foster families.

If you wish to join our group community volunteering program where we go to an orphanage, a slum and poor communities as a team to build recreational structures like slides and swings, teach the children personal hygiene, educate mothers of nutrition, provide mosquito nets to street mothers, provide vitamins to the children, promote English and computer literacy, plant trees in schools, town squares and landmark areas to promote conservation garnish teeth of children with fluoride for tooth protection, and provide cream for children skin infections, please kindly refer to the group community volunteering program page.

Accommodation: Volunteers working with us in Africa on orphanage and children programs are accommodated and fed by a host family. Host families are selected from people holding honored professions like teachers, clergy and healthcare workers in the community. Some orphanages provide staff apartments and our volunteers live in these facilities where they are available. A volunteer gets own room, in some homes you have private bathroom, in other homes, its a shared bathroom with the family. Host families have been trained by us and they welcome you and live with you as a member of the family. So you get to do other things together. Like cooking dinner, attending social events and going out to experience your community. Volunteers who are friends and desire to share a room can do so.
Dates: Our volunteer programs for children and orphans are open all year round. This volunteer placement is open all year round so choose any dates that work for you. You choose your own start and end dates from three weeks up to 16 weeks. You do not require any skills so please click here to apply.
Expenses and Funding: The expenses to come up for your trip include your air-fare, yellow fever and hepatitis immunizations, malaria medication, travel gear, visa fees, meals expenses, accommodation utilities expenses, money for local transportation and entrance fees to places of interest. We have programs helping our volunteers to raise money to cover some of these expenses. If you start early, you can raise enough to cover all expenses. Part of these expenses make what we classify as the program fees that we require of each volunteer. Please visit this page for information on the fundraising and the program fees.
