The Phi Kappa Phi Barbara Amoah Literacy project
is a project of Sem Fronteiras Charity organization initiated for the children of Akyem Achiase village and sponsored by Barbara Amoah and the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. Coverage has been expanding to include children of other neighboring villages in the Swedru district of the Eastern region of which the Achiase village is part.
On October 22nd 2015, the chief, people and 980 school children of the Akyem Achiase community gathered in a durbar amid drumming and dancing
to launch the Phi Kappa Phi Barbara Amoah literacy project which is providing two books to each child to read per academic term. Chosen books for the Phi Kappa Phi Barbara Amoah literacy project are expected to encourage the children to improve reading habits, learn new words, improve grammar, provide moral education, motivation and improve the academic performance. Thus providing a reliable opportunity for these children to escape poor living conditions and improve life for themselves, their parents and their future children, affecting the growth of the whole community.
